Asset Map of Resilience in Vermont

The culmination of our work and research for ENVS0401

Below is the asset map we created using the free, open source software Gephi. Gephi allows one to visualize connection data in a variety of different ways. The map below is the example we found most useful to make sense of resilience in Vermont. Each circle on the map represents a person or organization, and each line represents a connection or collaboration.

Visualizing the web of connections in Vermont is advantageous for many reasons. It allows us to quickly recognize "hubs," or areas where there are many connections. Additionally, we can look at who is on the periphery of the map and make a concerted effort to bring them into one of the hubs. A well-connected system will look dense.

By studying at how the map architecture changes over time, we can get a sense of how resiliency is building in Vermont.
